The Samoyed Story
The Samoyed is a picture of beauty, alertness and strength, with agility, dignity and grace. They are intelligent, gentle, loyal, adaptable, alert, full of action, eager to serve, friendly but conservative, not distrustful or shy, not overly aggressive.
The Samoyed is a double coated dog, their fur being pure white, white and biscuit, cream or all biscuit. They have an undercoat of soft, short, thick, close wool with longer and harsher "guard" hair growing through it to form the outer coat. When healthy, the coat should glistens with a silver sheen.
Males should be masculine in appearance and deportment without unwarranted aggressiveness, 55 to 65 lbs, 21 to 23-1/2 inches at the withers (top of the shoulders.)
Females should be feminine in appearance without weakness of structure or apparent softness of temperament, 45 to 55 lbs, 19 to 21 inches at the withers.
