Adoption Process

Please contact WSSH Before filling out an adoption application if you have surrendered a dog in the past or if you are outside MI or IN.

There is a $225 donation requested with each adopted dog. This Is Not a fee! As a non-profit we are not allowed to charge a fee. This is a donation to help cover the expenses incurred by the rescue from this dog.

While some may find the adoption process intimidating please understand that our Rescue Samoyeds come in from some Really Bad situations and we want to be most certain that they do not end up in that situation again.

In the beginning you will be asked to fill out the adoption application. This form was created so that we could to the best of our ability get you just the Sammy you are looking for. It is not intended to be intrusive or invasive just to get to know you better.

Once your application has been received, we will call to let you know we have received it and to answer any questions you may have or to ask any we may have. At this same point your references will be contacted.

Your application will be sent to your local representative so that a home visit can be arranged. The purpose of the home visit is to learn about your environment, as to find the best Samoyed for your family.

Next, you (all members of the household) will be invited to come to visit with; and potentially take home your new family member. It is at this point you will be asked to sign our adoption contract. Again this contract has been created to prevent our Sammy’s from ending up in situations similar to where they may have come from.

PLEASE NOTE: When viewing WSSH's available dogs, please keep in mind that while we do our best to keep the website current, we cannot guarantee any particular Samoyed shown on this page will still available at the time you contact us. Nor can we guarantee that any Samoyed listed would be suitable for your family and lifestyle.

It is WSSH's goal to find the best suitable home for each available Samoyed. This is achieved by knowing the personalities, quirks, and needs of each individual Samoyed and matching them to the most qualified applicant. Understandably this is not always a speedy process, therefore we respectfully ask applicants to be patient. WSSH is governed and operated by an all-volunteer staff. Volunteers have family, employment, and personal commitments in addition to the time they donate to help these less-fortunate Samoyeds.
